Life of Pi - (E4 Monday 8th January 20:00)
This film has the strange honour of being one of those Oscar nominated features that still somehow falls into the underrated category. Ang Lee's technical masterpiece also contains a very prominent beating heart throughout and is well worth another look.
Wolf Creek - (TCM Wednesday 10th January 23:00)
It was the loosely based on facts tagline that got me! This gorefest of what can happen when backpacking goes south sent shivers down my spine and even the mention of this film gives me the heebie jeebies, years later. Exploitation horror it may be but don't turn this one on if you need a good night's sleep. Not for the faint hearted!
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (Film Four Thursday 11th January 23:15)
An intricate puzzle of anxiety, paranoia and espionage brilliantly executed by a director in complete control and aided in no small part by an excellent ensemble cast all producing top notch performances. A riveting tale from start to finish!
