Review: Prometheus

Upon the arrival of Alien: Covenant to our cinema screens last Friday, I decided to give Prometheus a rewatch to familiarise myself once again with this particular series and to investigate whether or not it sits comfortably within the Alien franchise and if it would whet the appetite even more for its predecessor which I will be settling down to next week!
Ridley Scott doesn't hold back in this extremely ambitious Alien prequel which deals with a team of scientists who discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth which leads them on a journey into the darkest and most horrifying parts of the universe.
Even though all these films satisfy the sci-fi fan within, they are all predominantly horror movies and Prometheus is no exception. The immense special effects and complex premise of the movie are matched by some very strong performances by the likes of  Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba and Guy Pearce it's Michael Fassbender that went on to gain the majority of the plaudits and rightly so as his turn as "David" is spellbinding adding another consistent role performance to what is now a glittering career.
The slow tense build up of all previous movies is evident here also, as is the horrors, thrills and "jump out of your skin" moments that the Alien franchise is so famous for!
Overall, fans of the genre will not be disappointed and this film may add a few more - just in time for the spine chilling sequel winging it's way to a cinema near you soon!
