His move into film later saw his breakthrough 1967 film role as Benjamin Braddock, the title character in The Graduate.
Ever since, Hoffman has become an iconic star of the big screen with sporadic returns to the stage and television throughout a career spanning an amazing 47 years.

The 1970's being undoubtedly his golden period, Hoffman has enjoyed somewhat of a critical and box office rollercoaster in the years to follow but has always remained an exceptional and highly watchable actor, one of the finest actor of his generation and this opportunity to revisit some of his classic roles at the IFI is surely an opportunity to good to be missed.
